MEET
THE BAND LEADER
|
| Band leader
Larry
Elliott has been the driving force behind Retrospect since
forming the band more than two decades ago. Drawing on his previous
experience as a trumpet player in several local bands and theater pit
orchestras, plus a degree in Music Education from Frostburg State, Larry put
together a group of talented musicians who wanted to raise the standards of
quality of live music at wedding receptions and parties in the
Washington DC area.
|
 |
Larry
continues to lead the band today, handles all the band's bookings, and acts as
the band's sound tech, lighting tech and webmaster. On stage, he is the
Master of Ceremonies, plays
trumpet, flugelhorn, keyboards, and a little bit of recorder and
harmonica. Oh yeah, and sings occasionally. No, make that rarely. |
| In
addition to leading the band, Larry teaches a full schedule of private trumpet
and flugelhorn lessons, to both children and adults, on weekday afternoons and evenings, at
the Rockville Music & Arts Center in Rockville,
Maryland. |
 |
 |
Each year from December through March, on weekday mornings, Larry is a
PSIA-certified professional ski
instructor at Whitetail Mountain Resort, near Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, about
90 minutes from Washington DC. Larry most enjoys the opportunity
to turn tentative first-timers into confident skiers in a single morning.

| In
his spare time (ha ha ha ha ha) in the summer and fall, Larry enjoys caving (also called "spelunking" by those who
have never done it) and cave photography, often in Kentucky, Indiana or
Tennessee. |
