Special Love, Inc. is a non-profit organization which runs Camp Fantastic and related programs for children with cancer. Originally a one-week summer camp in 1983, the project has expanded to many year-round activities, including the winter weekend that is supported by our annual dance. The beauty of the Special Love program is the opportunity for kids to spend time with peers who have shared the trauma of the cancer experience. The program includes children who are patients at many area hospitals as well as the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. NIH provides the medical staffing for the camps, to ensure a safe experience for all campers, who may be in any phase of cancer treatment. The NIH Ski Club provides counselors and ski instructors for the winter camp, and you provide the additional support needed, through fund-raising efforts such as our annual November dance and auction. Special Love has no religious or political agenda. It's about the kids, that's all.
